Hexagonal Bar Weight Calculator
Weight = (√3/2) × AF² × L × density, where AF is the across-flats dimension.
Steel Hex Bar Weight (kg/m)
| Across flats | kg/m |
|---|
| 13 mm | 1.03 |
| 17 mm | 1.77 |
| 19 mm | 2.21 |
| 24 mm | 3.52 |
| 30 mm | 5.51 |
| 41 mm | 10.3 |
Formula
Weight (kg/m) = (√3/2) × AF² × 7850 × 10⁻⁶ = AF² ÷ 147.06 for steel
Worked Example
AF30 steel hex: 30² ÷ 147.06 = 6.12 kg/m ≈ 5.51–6.1 kg/m depending on exact hexagon definition used by the mill.
